Bromazepam also known under the brand names lexotan and lexotanil, is a benzodiazepine drug used for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia. As with other benzodiazepines bromazepam is highly addictive. If you have been using this drug bromazepam for longer than a couple of weeks you are likely addicted to bromazepam. If you are suffering addiction to bromazepam it is important that the dose is reduced slowly because abrupt or over rapid withdrawal can cause very severe withdrawal side effects if bromazepam is reduced too quickly. If withdrawal from bromazepam is done very slowly then withdrawal symptoms can be significantly reduced. We recommend switching to an equivalent dose of the benzodiazepine drug called diazepam (valium). Click here to read the benefits of diazepam for benzodiazepine drug withdrawal. The diazepam equivalency to bromazepam is approximately 6 mg of bromazepam is equivalent to 10 mg of diazepam. Below is a withdrawal schedule for bromazepam which you can adapt to your current dose of bromazepam. It is important to remember that the withdrawal table below is just a guide. It is recommended that people reduce their dosage at a rate which they can tolerate. You can also switch over to diazepam more slowly and gradually if you find any difficulties during the switching as explained in Dr JG McConnell's diazepam article.
